Dr. Erica Cartmill is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her current research studies the acquisition and evolution of human language.
As a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Chicago, Dr. Cartmill worked with Dr. Susan Goldin-Meadow and Dr. Susan Levine. As a member of the Spatial Intelligence and Learning Center (SILC), she examined the role of language and gesture in the development of children’s spatial vocabulary as well as their spatial skills.
